Severn Records is pleased to re-release Just Between Us from guitarist/vocalist Clarence Spady, with the added bonus track, an instrumental reworking of Marvin Gaye’s “Sexual Healing.”

At the time of its original release (2008) Just Between Us, was Clarence’s first recording in over 10 years. Once described as “the future of the blues” by Bill Dahl of the Chicago Tribune, his sound has matured, growing more distinguishable. Playing Hong Kong, Austria, Germany, France, Italy, Canada, and all parts of the U.S. has helped Clarence hone his craft. The result: His growing fan base is spreading the word of his moving guitar playing, rough, street-edged vocals, strong songwriting and live improvisations.

LINER NOTES

Special thanks to God 1st and foremost, for keeping me sustained thru this project from the beginning to the end. I’d like to thank David Earl of Severn Records for believing in me and the music that comes from the inner depths of my soul, and the staff at Severn, Jude and Dave. Thanks to my manager of 10 years Scott Goldman for really pulling me up when I was down and always keeping the G-Force ever-present when any situation arose. A big shout-out to all the musicians who actually made this project fun and exciting to be a part of, especially my collaborator Bob O’Connell; thanks for your support and help on all of the arrangements.

I want to thank my son Khalique Spady for whom two of the tracks were specifically written: “I’ll Go” and “Cut Them Loose.” Thanks my Little Genius. Thanks to all of my family and friends especially those in NJ, PA, TN and VA, the list is so long I’d be here all night, but you know who you are. Thank you, Calvin, Telisha, Rob, Dino and Silver.

I would also like to thank my photographer & significant other Amelia Suraci for some fine photography work. Thanks for the support as well.

And last but not least, my mother Florence Spady and father Clarence Spady. If they didn’t get together on that rainy night I wouldn’t be here. Your spirit will never leave me. — Clarence Spady
