Darrell Nulisch goes back to his roots with his new release Goin’ Back to Dallas. In addition to performing some of his favorites by Freddie King, Sonny Boy Williamson and Jimmy Reed, Darrell and song writing partner Steve Gomes team up for four new originals. Cut “live” in the studio Darrell (vocals and harmonica) and the band approach the songs in a simple and honest way never letting their playing over power the music.

LINER NOTES

I’ve wanted to make a straight-out blues CD for a long time. After touring Europe last spring as a quartet we decided now was the time. I came home with a renewed appreciation for that small band “ensemble” sound. The challenge to pull it off effectively, how much fun and work it can be to play and maybe the best thing, to see the effect it can have on a crowd had me eager to get started. So if there was a “concept” for the CD it was to approach the recording like a live gig. Keep it simple and honest, create a vibe, and most of all have fun. I’m satisfied that we nailed it and then some. I hope you agree. Once again thank you, David Earl and Severn Records for turning ideas to realities. Thanks to my best friends who also are my band mates. Thank you Dolores. — DN
